More about this project

My A-level coursework project was to create a brand identity and product packaging for a small local business. I chose the music rehearsal rooms, Playing Aloud whose brand and corporate image was in need of a revamp.

The brand I created was based around a visual symbol for the company name. I worked on various concepts before settling on simple but effective circular symbol which has a stylised music note in the centre and three radiating lines to represent the main three aspects of the business I identified when writing my client profile. I developed these aspects of the business into separate identities, live – rehearsal rooms, hire – equipment hire and custom – product sales.

I created product packaging for two custom made products, guitar strings and guitar/bass cables. I decided very early in the project that the packaging should have a very ‘high-end’, expensive feel to it so I chose black as the background colour. There are also simple visual representations of the products on the packaging to allow customers to identify the product more easily and make the packaging more unique (e.g. six thin lines to represent guitar strings).
